Your bar student is undertaking an intense period of study.
To prepare for the bar, your student will be conducting over 600 hours of study, six days per week for 10 weeks. Students will be reading over 2,365 pages of dense legal reading of black letter law, completing over 2,676 multiple choice questions, and writing over 20 hour-long essays.
This is in addition to the 160 hours of in-class lectures they must attend. At the end of this 10 week period of preparation, all of this study will culminate in a grueling two-day, 12-hour exam.We are writing this letter on behalf of each of our students to remind their family and friends that this a very crucial, short, and intense period for these students and we at Florida Coastal try to provide our students with every possible advantage to help them succeed during this time of study.
We encourage you to do the same and ask that you support your student in any way possible during these 10 weeks. Perhaps you can help by taking care of additional household responsibilities (laundry, cooking, child care, etc.) or not expect them to participate as much in social activities. Most of all we know our students value your encouragement during this bar prep period.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the counselors in the Academic Success Department at (904) 680-7700.
