|What is your favorite Coastal memory?
||I took advantage of the study abroad program after my 1L year. I spent six weeks traveling Europe (and attending classes here and there). By far, the best trip I have ever taken. I saw parts of the world that I had never imagined I would get to experience. I got to know some of my fellow classmates better, and solidified friendships that are still strong today. I highly encourage everyone to participate in this program!
|What is your proudest professional moment?
||I re-live my proudest moment with every client. Because family law is so personal, cases have an impact on clients’ lives in a way other civil litigation does not. At the end of any case, where my client offers their most sincere thanks for helping them through an emotional, and usually difficult, legal endeavor, I know I have done something good in the world. Equally satisfying is the Pro Bono work I do through JALA. I accept family law referrals and teach in their Pro Bono Clinics. It is in doing this work with families, that I could not be more proud of what I do.
|What is on your bookshelf?
||My husband and I recently adopted a beautiful baby girl, so I am currently educating myself on parenting an adopted child.
|What advice do you have for someone considering law school?
||Spend some time with lawyers in many different fields, observe court hearings, read a few scholarly articles. Try to figure out if practicing law is really something you want to do, or if it is just something you think sounds like a good profession to go into. Loving what you do makes all the difference in the world. Figuring out what you love before you borrow a small fortune in student loans, is even better.
|Who did you call when you found out you passed the bar?
||I called my husband, then my parents. All three were exceptionally happy for me, and shared that they never thought there would be a different result.
