Law student working hard on her homework.

The Shadow Program offers students a unique opportunity to bridge classroom doctrinal instruction and courtroom practice skills. Florida Coastal students who participate in the program will be given the opportunity to shadow attorneys from private firms, public interest law offices, and governmental law departments at trial, evidentiary hearings, motion hearings, and depositions as well as at non-litigation proceedings such as meditations, closings, and settlements. Students will be able to see the practical application of concepts they are learning about in the classroom. They will also have the unique opportunity to learn how trials are conducted, how arguments are made, how evidence is presented and objected to, how lawyers talk to judges, how lawyers talk to clients, how lawyers talk to one another, and how to conduct themselves in a courtroom. To sign up students should log on to their Symplicity accounts. Once they access their account, they should select – Events and then the sub-tab Workshops. Then, students can filter the list of events by clicking the Workshop Type drop down menu and selecting Shadow Program. Here, students will be able to view all Shadow Program opportunities. Students can register by selecting the "RSVP" button.
