A Coastal Law Black Law Students Association (BLSA) team finished second in the national finals of the 2010 Thurgood Marshal Mock Trial Competition in Boston this weekend. Additionally, team member Adrianne Irish won the Best Advocate Award for the entire competition, where 18 teams participated.
Rounding out the team are Jaimee McDowell, Ruby Green and Clarence Sydnor. Coastal Law Professor Lois Ragsdale coached the team.
Prior to reaching the finals, the team finished in first place at the Southern Region of the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Southern Region was the largest of all the regional competitions. It consisted of 20 teams including: University of Florida, Duke Law School, University of North Carolina and the University of Alabama. The Florida Coastal BLSA team competed in two preliminary rounds, the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals; resulting in a first place win.
