Student Affairs

The office of Student Affairs is intended to work with all segments of the Florida Coastal School of Law community to help students develop through opportunities, advice, and assistance. The office is supervised by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs who works closely with students to address a myriad of non-academic issues. Student Affairs provides assistance to students with personal issues or problems such as dealing with the rigors of law school, adjustment to the Jacksonville community, or coping with personal or adverse conditions that affect law school performance.

Student Affairs also provides support to student organizations that are organized under the auspices of the Student Bar Association (SBA) as well as other groups such as the Florida Coastal School Ambassadors.

The office of Student Affairs provides guidance to students who wish to amend their original law school application in preparation for their eventual bar applications. In addition, the office of Student Affairs provides assistance to students who qualify for disability accommodations under the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA). This office also provides students with referrals to resources inside and outside the law school, when necessary. The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs works collaboratively with Coastal Law’s Mental Health Counselor, the office of Academic Affairs, and departments such as Academic Success and Career Services to provide comprehensive support and services to students.

In addition, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs is involved in enforcing the school’s conduct and professionalism standards and in administering counseling and disciplinary actions, when appropriate.
