Andrew Long
BACKGROUND
Prior to joining the Florida Coastal faculty in 2008, Professor Long taught at the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, served as a Senior Court Attorney with the New York Court of Appeals and practiced in Oregon. Long received his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, where he served on the law review, and his LL.M. from New York University School of Law, where he served as an advisor to the environmental law journal.

TEACHING and SCHOLARSHIP
Professor Long teaches property and environmental law courses. He researches primarily in the areas of biodiversity and climate change. His work has appeared in the Carbon & Climate Law Review, Columbia Journal of Environmental Law, the New York University Environmental Law Journal and other journals. Professor Long has recently presented papers at The University of Aarhus (Denmark) and William and Mary College of Law. In Spring 2010, he will present his work on international climate change adaptation policy in tropical forests at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and Emory University School of Law, along with other scheduled presentations.
ACTIVITIES & AFFILIATIONS
Professor Long is a faculty advisor for the environmental law certificate program at Coastal Law, as well as the school’s environmental law moot court team and Environmental Law Society. He also assists in organizing the annual Environmental Summit co-hosted by Coastal Law and Jacksonville University. He regularly comments on environmental developments on the blogs Biolaw: Law & the Life Sciences and Teaching Climate Change Law and Policy.
Professor Long is a member of:
- the Commission on Environmental Law (CEL) of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, as well as the Specialist Group on Engergy Law and Climate Change within the CEL;
- the Association of American Law Schools Sections on Natural Resources Law and Environmental Law;
- the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources.
- JCCI Forward (an affiliate of the Jacksonville Community Council, Inc.)
