Legal Work Experience

Honors students, who begin the fall, and rank in the top 10% of the class at the end of their first full semester are assured a 1L summer externship if they meet all of their responsibilities under the Honors Legal Work Experience Terms and Conditions. Spring admits are assured externships the following spring. Students in the top 5% of the class at the end of their first semester are further assured that they will receive a judicial externship. If a student fulfills their responsibilities under the Honors Legal Work Experience Terms and Conditions and Coastal Law is not successful in placing a student ranked in the top 10% of the class in an externship, Coastal Law will provide a credit of $2,000 to be used for tuition.  Honors students ranked between 10.1% and 30% are encouraged to apply for an available externship or to locate one their own.  All Honors students ranked in the top 30% of the class during their 1L year are eligible to receive a $1,500 living stipend if the location where the externship will be completed is located greater than 100 miles from downtown Jacksonville and if they meet all of their responsibilities under the Honors Legal Work Experience Terms and Conditions.
