“Federal Hiring Tips & Tricks” presented by Government Outreach Counselor Kathryn M. Oughton, Esq.. In this federal hiring presentation, we will discuss specifics on how the federal hiring process works, as well as how to successfully use USA Jobs to apply to federal positions. Room 455. The Criminal Law panel will consist of an ASA from the State Attorney's Office, two investigators from the Public Defender's Office and an attorney from a Private Defense Firm. The panel will be discussing topics such as interaction with other attorneys, support staff, investigators, their clients, and their clients family members. They will also touch on the resources they use and what documents the attorneys must sign off on and what information their support staff can assist them with. They will also focus on their communication methods and how that changes based on the party they are speaking with and who the party is contacting. Lunch will be provided and one CPE credit has been approved for the event.

Room 250. With the supervision of the Immigrant Rights Clinic Professor, Ericka Curran, the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) will be hosting a naturalization outreach entitled the Vietnamese Refugee Initiative on March 30, 2013 from 8AM-5PM.
We are in need of volunteers to help fill out N-400, fee waivers, disability waivers, etc. During the event, students will be providing legal assistance to approximately 14-20 clients. The clients are all Vietnamese individuals who do not understand English and are either disabled, elderly, or both. There will be translators, and two student volunteers will be assigned to each translator.
Student volunteers will be filling out the forms to submit to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Students will receive legal pro-bono hours.
