Over the past decade, technological advancements across all platforms have resulted in unprecedented dilemmas for the world of college athletics, including student-athletes not being compensated for the commercial use of their likenesses. National experts with involvement in high profile litigation on behalf of student-athletes will discuss their experiences, the NCAA amateurism rules regarding use of agents, as well as other landmark developments.
The Career Services Department is proud to annouce the 3rd Annual Finish Line. The Finish Line is designed as a networking venue in which our 3Ls can get to know the Jacksonville legal community. The event takes place in the 5th floor common area.

Attorneys participating in the event may arrive at the courthouse as early as 3:00 p.m., but no later than 3:30 p.m. to have paperwork completed. Every person entering the courthouse needs to have a photo ID to get through first floor security. NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED!

"Controlling the Use of Performance Enhancing Drugs in Sports:
Maintaining Competitive Balance without Destroying Due Process"
The panel will address the contemporary issues and challenges facing sport leagues and governing bodies in testing athletes for the use of performance enhancing drugs. Topics for discussion include testing for human growth hormone, what qualifies as a PED, proper sanctions imposed on athletes who test positive, the impact of PEDs on a level playing field, protecting the athlete's interest as well as the amorphous topic of due process, and where the future is headed.

Please join the Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association and Florida Coastal School of Law for the Second Annual Rendezvous on the River Charity. The event takes place this Thursday, April 22, from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at River City Brewing Co. (back deck) on the southbank of the river downtown. Forecast models are calling for a beautiful sunny day!
This year’s event will benefit Dreams Come True, a local non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses. All professionals in our community are invited to attend. The cost is $15.00 per person and $5.00 for Coastal Law students. The event will feature a live band, heavy hors d'oeuvres, a free drink ticket, and great drink specials throughout the evening.
