Laptop Specifications for FCSL
Connecting to the FCSL Network A built in Ethernet (network) port is required to work on the FCSL network. If you do not have an ethernet (network) port then you will need to purchase an Ethernet (network) card to plug into our network. A CAT 5 (network) cable to plug into our network will also be needed. Should you consider going wireless, a recommended card is DLink DWL-650+. You can usually find this item online, Bestbuy, or CompUSA. The suggested operating system is XP professional. (The 'Home' version is acceptable) You will need at least a minimum of 1GB of RAM (2GB Recommended for Microsoft Windows Vista), Virus software (Norton or McCaffe) and MS Word or Wordperfect for word processing. We do have a computer lab on campus that can be used for word processing and research with Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis. Configuration instructions are available in the computer lab and we ask that configure your system the initial time. Should you experience difficulties after trying, we provide laptop configuration service on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. |
