Center for Law and Public Policy Issues 2007 Forum Speaker
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, the Honorable Nancy Soderberg, will speak at the Center for Law and public Policy’s Issues 2007 Forum in April.
Ms. Soderberg, who was appointed by President Bill Clinton, speaks at 3:30, Monday, April 9, in room 450. Her very timely topic is: "Today’s Foreign Policy."
Seating is limited to the first 110 to rsvp and then on a space available basis.

Eric Smith
The Center for Law and Public Policy is administered by Executive Director and FCSL Assistant Dean for External Affairs
Eric Smith, a former legislator and Jacksonville City Council
president. The Center's aim is to provide intellectual resources that serve the diverse needs of Northeast Florida and
facilitate international networking. The Center offers itself as a resource for the public and private sectors in
responding to challenges of economic development, law, public policy, internationalization, and competition. The Center
reflects FCSL’s significant international interests and commitment to service. Towards those ends, the Center:
- generates or presents publications, articles, lectures, issues forums and conferences;
- provides expert information on political and economic issues and policy;
- produces and hosts a weekly one-half hour television talk program, "People & Politics," which focuses on law,
public policy and global issues;
- publishes an Internet and print newsletter, "Beyond
the Lines," which draws attention to issues relevant to the community's development, especially on the international
front and that otherwise may be unreported;
- develops exchange programs with institutions in other countries;
- interacts and innovates with government on matters of public policy and governance;
- conducts research and promotes global connectivity;
- brings into the community highly regarded provocative speakers who challenge traditional assumptions;
- promotes and strengthens the Florida Coastal School of Law as a center of opportunity, leadership, cultural diversity and governance;
- develops strategic alliance partnerships, coalitions and collaborates with the international corporate community to
strengthen the Center and advance its programs and advocacy efforts;
- recognizes that the Center's greatest asset is the knowledge, experience, commitment, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial
spirit FCSL students, alumni, and faculty bring to its efforts;
- the Center reflects FCSL's focus on law and public policy issue development, international initiatives
and commitment to service.
