Study Abroad
A student may register for one summer session or one semester
at another ABA approved law school if he or she has met the following
conditions:
- 1. The student must have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.20 when applying for the program.
- 2. The student must have earned at least 30 credits at FCSL by the time he or she will begin studying at another institution.
- 3. The student must complete an Application for Study Abroad/Visiting Student (available from Registrar's office). This form must first be approved and signed
by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and then by the Director of Financial Aid. The student must then turn the signed form into the Registrar's Office.
(For a summer semester study abroad, the student should submit this completed application to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs by April 1st.)
- 4. The Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs will review and must approve the requested courses. Courses will be approved if they are not substantially similar
to courses offered at FCSL; they will not be approved if they overlap with courses previously taken by the student while in law school. The student shall provide
the Assistant Dean with course descriptions from the catalog of the institution to be visited. Courses required by FCSL may not be taken at another institution.
- 5. Actual grades earned at the school being visited will not be factored into the student's GPA at FCSL. The student must earn a "C" or better in a course in
order for the credits to be applied toward the 87 credits needed to graduate from FCSL.
- 6. The student must provide the FCSL Registrar with contact information for the person in charge of the study abroad program. If the student will be taking
general courses at another institution (i.e., not a specific study abroad program), then provide the contact information for the registrar at that institution.
This contact information should include the name, title, phone number, e-mail address, and mailing address.
