Orientation Dates

Students are required to participate in the aforementioned online orientation sessions during the week of May 27.  Orientation sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be conducted in Online Rooms in the FCSL AAMPLE® Orientation Summer 2013 course found in the school’s Learning Management System, Desire2Learn (D2L). Meet the Professor sessions on Thursday will be held in Online Rooms within each individual course in D2L e.g. Intro to 4th Amendment and Negotiable Instruments.  NOTE:  The schedule contained herein is subject to change; updates will be posted on this website.

The FCSL AAMPLE® Orientation Summer 2013 course in D2L is a self-paced online course, available no later than Monday, May 27th. This online course must be completed by 8:00 AM EDT on Monday, June 3rd. Direct any questions regarding the online Orientation course(s) to acadmictechnology@fcsl.edu and include AAMPLE Summer 2013 in the subject line.

During Meet the Professor Sessions, you will have opportunities to ask each professor about expectations for their course. General AAMPLE® questions should be directed to the FCSL AAMPLE® Coordinator at ksiddons@fcsl.edu.

During orientation week, you will be introduced to Desire2Learn (D2L) as well as Online Rooms through the Blackboard Collaborate application. D2L houses the entire content for each course you take – Introduction to Fourth Amendment and Negotiable Instruments. Additionally, we’ll review program expectations and answer general questions about the AAMPLE® program.

Other Important Dates

ALL students will take quizzes and final exams using ExamSoft software (details provided during Orientation). Students have the option to take final exams on Florida Coastal’s campus in Jacksonville, Florida or at a remote test center located within a reasonable commuting distance of one’s home for a modest third-party fee (details provided in separate correspondence).

Final exams will be given from 1:00 – 4:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on the aforementioned dates; therefore, plan to be at the FCSL campus or remote test center from 12:00 – 4:30 PM EDT on both days. More information will be provided to students during Orientation Week and prior to the first quiz.  Please read the AAMPLE® Exam Policy located at the bottom of this web page for further details.

Class Schedules

There are no holidays in AAMPLE®, so you can expect to meet as scheduled unless your professor states differently in the class syllabus. Please read the AAMPLE ® Participation Policy located at the bottom of this web page carefully.

AAMPLE® sessions are offered only online this summer at the times noted below. Classes meet Monday through Friday.

Students will be assigned to the following time slot for both online classes - Intro to 4th Amendment  and Negotiable Instruments:

• 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

Grading

AAMPLE® students who  meet the established minimum grade and GPA requirements at the end of the program will gain admission into the next entering JD class, so long as they provide the law school with an official transcript showing receipt of a bachelor's degree.  Official transcripts must be sent directly from the institutions to our Admissions Department. The official transcripts are required in addition to the copies sent to us with LSDAS reports. Students must also meet all admissions requirements.

Accommodations

A special rate of $40.00 per night (with at least a 7-night stay) is available for AAMPLE® students at the following hotel. The daily rate is $55.00. Both rates are for King Suites only.

Payment

Total tuition for the AAMPLE ® program is $500 (which includes a non-refundable $300 seat deposit), not including books. All students must pay the tuition by the date specified on your acceptance letter.

Tuition & Withdrawals

The tuition refund policy for the 2013 AAMPLE ® Program is as follows if withdrawal occurs: 

• Before midnight on the day before the first day of class – 100% of tuition ($200) will be refunded (e.g. $500 - $300 non-refundable seat deposit)
• At any time on or after the first day of class – 100% of tuition is retained by the school.

• The credit card fee is not refundable. All refunds will be credited to the credit card used to pay the tuition.

If you decide not to complete the AAMPLE ® program, you must officially withdraw by notifying, in writing, the Registrar of Florida Coastal School of Law.

You can do this by emailing Bridgette Waines at bwaines@fcsl.edu and  copying ksiddons@fcsl.edu or faxing your request to 904–680–7680. Giving verbal notice to a staff or faculty member or merely ceasing to attend classes does not constitute a withdrawal. If you do not take your examination(s) and you have not withdrawn from the program by written request you will receive a failing grade in your course(s). Students should receive a confirmation that they have been officially removed from the program; if you do not receive confirmation then do not consider yourself removed. Professionalism

Students are expected to act in a professional manner when speaking to staff, faculty, administration, or other students. Students who do not behave in a professional manner may be administratively removed from the program at any time. Please refer to the AAMPLE ® Code of Conduct Policy at the bottom of this web page.
